We'll tell you as soon as tickets go on sale:

A new production of Owen McCafferty’s comedy SHOOT THE CROW will open in London at Trafalgar Studios on Wednesday 28 September, with a press night on Tuesday 11 October. Starring James Nesbitt, Conleth Hill and Jim Norton, the show is directed by Robert Delamere. Final casting to be announced.

A Belfast building site. Four tilers on the make, each dreaming of better things. But not all of them can commit the same petty crime. Acutely observed and brilliantly witty, SHOOT THE CROW is a hilarious and moving homage to the working man.

Trafalgar Studios houses two exciting new theatre spaces - the first two such theatre studios existing under one roof in the heart of London. This combination will allow the West End to present a much wider range of productions than has previously been offered to central London audiences.

SHOOT THE CROW was first performed at the Druid Lane Theatre in Galway in 1997 and was subsequently revived at the Royal Exchange Studio, Manchester, where it played a critically and publicly acclaimed season in 2003.
Other work includes a production of Cold Comfort in Belfast, which he also directed, an adaptation of Ionesco’s The Chairs, No Place Like Home and Court Room No 1 for Tinderbox Theatre Company in Belfast and Mojo Mickybo for Kabosh Theatre Company, also produced in Boston. Owen was writer on attachment to the National Theatre Studio in 1999. A Working Title film based on Mojo Mickybo, entitled Micky Bo and Me, starring Julie Walters, Adrian Dunbar and Gina McKee, and directed by Terry Loane, was released to excellent reviews earlier this year.

McCafferty's plays show a truly original grasp of language and the complexities, both comic and tragic, of Belfast life. As a playwright he creates an authentic poetry out of the Belfast dialect and his dramas transcend the cliches of political writing to document the lives of ordinary men and women of his home town.

Robert Delamere’s recent directorial credits include Earthly Paradise at the Almedia Theatre, Darwin in Malibu and In Arabia We’d All Be Kings, both at Hampstead Theatre and Accidental Death of An Anarchist at the Donmar Warehouse. Set and costume design is by Simon Higlett.
SHOOT THE CROW will be presented in London by Sonia Friedman Productions.

"A rich, full comedy of small lives, big dreams and medium steals." Sunday Tribune

SHOOT THE CROW will be staged in Trafalgar Studio 1, the larger of the two spaces which opened in May 2004 with the Royal Shakespeare Company's OTHELLO, starring Antony Sher and went on to present highly successful runs of the Watermill Theatre's production of SWEENEY TODD and the Young Vic's celebrated production of SIMPLY HEAVENLY.

Trafalgar Studio 2 will open in October 2005 as a dynamic and intimate new100 seat theatre space. Trafalgar Studio 2 will present a range of innovative productions from a variety of theatre companies, focusing on new work and including cabaret performances and late night comedy.
