Philadelphia Story, The Tickets

Old Vic TheatreLondon

The Philadelphia Story will star Kevin Spacey in Philip Barry's Broadway comedy, famously filmed in 1940 with Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn. The actor said it would be "a fantastic and fun way to finish off our first season".

Rich, haughty and spoilt, Tracy Lord is about to get married for the second time. But she's reckoned without the reporter sent to cover the wedding and CK Dexter Haven, her quick-thinking, free-drinking first husband. The presence of both men at her pre-nuptial party, the collision of the trio's volatile emotions, combined with a drunken midnight swim, provokes Tracy into learning some painful lessons, and taking an uncharacteristic look into her heart. Glamorous and sophisticated, The Philadelphia Story is a compelling mix of wit, satire and romance. It was first performed on Broadway in 1939, and became one of the great movies of Hollywood's golden age.

Jennifer Ehle will play Tracy Lord. The cast also includes Oliver Cotton, Nicholas Le Prevost, Richard Lintern, Julia McKenzie, Damian Matthews, Talulah Riley and Lauren Ward. Kevin Spacey will play CK Dexter Haven from 3 May to 18 June.

Adrian Lukis will play CK Dexter Haven from 20 June to 6 August.

Adrian played Mr Wickham in the BBC's award-winning Pride and Prejudice and Tom in Cloaca at the Old Vic last year. His other work includes, for theatre Dinner (Wyndhams), Dead Funny and The Front Page (Chichester), The Relapse and Sleep With Me (National Theatre), As You Like It, All's Well that Ends Well, Misha’s Party and School of Night (RSC), the title role in Macbeth (Salisbury) and Arms and the Man (Manchester). For television his credits include Midsomer Murders, Judge John Deed, Spooks, Foyle’s War, Peak Practice, Prime Suspect IV, The Hunt, Back Home and Absolute Power; and for film, Me Without You, Young Blade, The Trench and Seven Seconds.
