Legendary choreographer Susan Stroman's dance-musical, Contact, has its West End premiere after a two-and-a-half year run on Broadway where it scooped the 2000 Tony Award for Best Musical.
Stroman, who created the work with librettist John Weidman, was inspired by an actual event in her life when she went to a dance club and was mesmerised by a woman in a yellow dress who took to the floor with a string of different partners. The result was a three-part piece, the latter section of which features a suicidal advertising executive who finds a new reason to live in the shape of a mysterious dancer. Sarah Wildor, the Royal Ballet principal dancer who lead the cast of Adventures in Motion Pictures' radical production of Cinderella, will star in the work alongside Leigh Zimmerman, who recently featured in the London production of Chicago, as well as former Robin of Sherwood Michael Praed, whose West End credits include Aspects of Love, and ex-Buddy and Grease star Craig Urbani.
