The ideal Christmas treat, Leslie Bricusse's spectacular musical extravaganza Scrooge is a heartwarming family story based on Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, with stunning sets and costumes, specially created illusions by magician Paul Kieve (acclaimed for the magic effects in the Harry Potter films) and a fantastic musical score which features the Oscar-nominated hit 'Thank You Very Much'.
Don't miss Ebenezer, Bob Cratchit, Tiny Tim, the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future and a whole host of Dickensian characters in the award-winning, international smash hit musical Scrooge!
The cast stars Tommy Steele as 'Ebenezer Scrooge'.
Tommy Steele, pop legend and star of such Hollywood hits as The Happiest Millionaire, Finian's Rainbow and the legendary Half A Sixpence, returns to the London Palladium - home of some of his greatest triumphs - as Ebenezer Scrooge. Tommy Steele has become synonymous with The London Palladium which, over a period of more than four decades, has played host to some of his biggest hits including Hans Christian Anderson, The London Palladium Show, Dick Whittington and, of course, Singin' In The Rain - which Tommy directed as well as starred in.
A successful stage actor, he has also appeared alongside Alec Guinness and Ralph Richardson in Twelfth Night and Judi Dench in She Stoops to Conquer at The Old Vic and garnered critical plaudits as well as numerous awards and nominations for many other acclaimed stage roles. His biggest international theatre success was in the legendary West End and Broadway production of Half A Sixpence, for which he received the New York Critics' Award and a Tony nomination. His career also encompasses no less than twenty hit records (including the number one hit 'Singing The Blues'). He has appeared in countless TV entertainment and variety shows including The Tommy Steele Hour and A Special Tommy Steele, which was Britain's entry at the 1972 Montreux Festival. Tommy's autobiography became an instant hit when turned into a suite of twelve numbers entitled My Life, My Song, broadcast on the BBC.
NOTE: Patrick Stewart's A Christmas Carol is at The Albery Theatre from 6 to 31 December 2005 and The Horla Theatre Company's production of A Christmas Carol is at The Trafalgar Studios from 20 December 2005 to 7 January 2006.
