Sets musical theatre back a thousand years!
A new musical lovingly ripped off from the motion picture Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
Lovingly ripped off from the classic film comedy Monty Python and the Holy Grail, SPAMALOT is the new musical directed by oscar winning Mike Nichols, with a book by the third tallest Python, Eric Idle, and an almost but not entirely new score by Eric Idle (No relation) and John du Prez.
Retelling the legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, and featuring a number of gratuitously scantily clad showgirls, not to mention the cows, killer rabbits and French people.

Julie Taymor, one of America's most innovative directors, has extensive experience staging epic theatre and opera productions, exploring classic myths through ritualised puppetry, mask and. movement. Taymor brings this same array of disciplines to <em>The Lion King</em>, the first musical she has directed in the commercial theatre, she made Broadway history by becoming the first woman ever to win the Tony Award for best director of a musical.

  Mamma Mia

Prince of Wales Theatre

Running time 2hrs 45mins

Musical with music and lyrics by Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus, book by Catherine Johnson. Directed by Phyllida Lloyd with choreography by Anthony van Laast and production designs by Mark Thompson.

ABBA member Bjorn Ulvaeus is one of the producers of this £3 million show, which weaves 27 ABBA songs like Dancing Queen, Take A Chance On Me, Knowing Me Knowing You and Money Money Money into a story about a mother and daughter preparing for the daughter's wedding.
Björn said: "This idea has been talked about for several years but it was only when I was with my wife and kids at the West End production of Grease that it struck me we could do it. I thought that if we could make it like that, with a proper story where the songs come into the story naturally, it could be family entertainment. There is so little of that and I thought it would be a wonderful idea to do it."

  The Sound Of Music

London Palladium Theatre

Running time 2hrs 30mins

Based on the uplifting true story of the Von Trapp family, The Sound of Music tells the story of Maria, the spirited young woman who leaves the convent to become governess to the seven children of Captain von Trapp, an autocratic widower whose strict household rules leave no room for music or merriment. Through her youthfulness and zest for life she brings happiness and love to the von Trapp family. The Sound of Music was the last collaboration between Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II becoming one of the most successful Oscar-winning film musicals of all time.

A timeless family classic which touches the hearts of all ages, the score brims over with some of the most memorable songs ever performed on the musical stage including My Favourite Things, Do Re Mi, Edelweiss, Climb Every Mountain, Sixteen Going on Seventeen, The Lonely Goatherd and of course the glorious title song The Sound of Music.

  We Will Rock You

Dominion Theatre

Running time 3hrs

A new musical by QUEEN and Ben Elton, featuring over 30 Queen songs. Directed by Christopher Renshaw, with choregraphy by Arlene Phillips and designs by Mark Fisher and Willie Williams.

The time is the future, in a place that was once called Earth. Globalisation is complete. Everywhere, the kids watch the same movies, wear the same fashions and think the same thoughts. It's a safe, happy, Ga Ga World. "Unless you're a rebel. Unless you want to Rock" On Planet Mall Rock'n'Roll has been banned for centuries.

All musical instruments are banned. The materials from which instruments were once made are banned. There is no wood, no steel or gut for strings, no skin for drums, these things are long forgotten.

The Company Computers generate the tunes and the kids download then. Nothing is left to chance in the pursuit of profit, hits are scheduled year's in advance. Dance moves are rigidly imposed. "Is this the real life? Is it just fantasy?".

  Wicked

Apollo Victoria Theatre

Running time 2hrs 50mins

WICKED, the spellbinding and spectacular hit musical, is the untold story of the legendary witches from L. Frank Baum's classic 'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz'.

When Dorothy famously triumphed over the Wicked Witch, we only ever heard one side of the story. Gregory Maguire's 1995 novel, 'Wicked: The Life & Times of the Wicked Witch of the West', created "one of the great heroines of fantasy literature" (Los Angeles Times), explaining how a misunderstood, green girl named Elphaba became 'wicked' but her unlikely friend, Glinda, became 'good'.

This large 3-star hotel offers exceptional value for money considering its location just off Tottenham Court Road.

Its rather dull 1960's exterior conceals a modern, bright hotel. The rooms are compact (we'd go so far as to say that the single rooms are rather small!) and they all have private WC, shower, satellite TV, safe-deposit box, hairdryer and tea/coffee facilities.

The hotel's facilities include two restaurants, a bar and a large health club with pool (no charge for guests) and a new and rather splendid conference centre. Due to the popularity of weekend breaks, a minimum of two nights is required if your overnight stay is on a Saturday.
