Announces 2nd Booking Period is now on sale

[27 November] It has been announced that the 2nd Booking Period of The Sound of Music at the London Palladium has now gone on sale.
Based on the uplifting true story of the Von Trapp family,The Sound of Music tells the story of Maria, the spirited young woman who leaves the convent to become governess to the seven children of Captain von Trapp, an autocratic widower whose strict household rules leave no room for music or merriment. Through her youthfulness and zest for life she brings happiness and love to the von Trapp family.The Sound of Music was the last collaboration between Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II becoming one of the most successful Oscar-winning film musicals of all time.

Rocky Horror Show - Returns for Christmas run

[24 November] The Rocky Horror Show has announced that it will return to London's West End for a limited Christmas run at the Comedy Theatre.
Follow squeaky-clean sweethearts Brad and Janet on an adventure they’ll never forget, with the scandalous Frank ‘n’ Furter, rippling Rocky and vivacious Magenta. Get ready for a night of fun, frolics and frivolity.

Porgy and Bess - Announces New Booking Period

[22 November] It has been announced that Porgy and Bess has extended it's run and is now booking until Saturday 27th October 2007.
The Gershwins’ musical masterpiece Porgy and Bess is one of the towering achievements of Twentieth Century American musical theatre. A bittersweet love story set in South Carolina during the Great Depression, the work features arguably one of the greatest, most beautiful and moving musical scores ever written for the stage, including such classics as Summertime, I Got Plenty o’ Nothin’, It Ain’t Necessarily So and I Loves You, Porgy.

Billy Elliot the Musical - Announces New Booking Period

[16 November] The producers of the hit musical Billy Elliot the Musical, have announced that the new booking period has now opened, with performances now booking until 20th October 2007.
Adapted from the popular British film, Billy Elliot the Musical is a funny, heart-warming and feel-good celebration of one young boy's dream in a gripping tale of triumph over adversity.
This original story captured the hearts and minds of the world when the movie was released in October 2000. Nominated for 3 Oscar's and 13 Bafta awards this poignant film broke box office records across the world.Bent is the first modern American play to proudly and passionately speak in affirmation of homosexual love and desire.

Stones in his Pockets - Announces Early Closing due to cast ill health

[13 November] It has today been announced that Stones in his Pockets, will now close on Saturday 2 December 2006.
The early closing is due to the ill health of Hugh Lee, who has contracted gastric flu, and has been signed off from performing for a period of three months

Summer and Smoke - Announces Early Closing

[13 November] It has today been announced that Tennessee William's Summer and Smoke, will now close on Saturday 25 November 2006.
Set in a small insular town in America's Deep South, this is a gripping drama of smouldering and repressed passion. Rosamund Pike plays Miss Alma, a woman who struggles to forge a connection with the man she has always loved - the handsome dissolute son of the town's respected doctor, played by Chris Carmack. In the process lives are changed forever in a way that none could have predicted.

Bent - Announces Early Closing

[13 November] It has today been announced that Martin Sherman's play Bent, which opened at Trafalgar Studio 1 on 22 September 2006, will now close on Saturday 9 December 2006.
Bent is the first modern American play to proudly and passionately speak in affirmation of homosexual love and desire.
Martin Sherman's play is set in Nazi Germany in 1934 and explores the persecution of gay men under Hitler's regime. It is the first play to broach this subject; drawing attention to the horrific, yet sparsely documented, number of gay men massacred through the Nazi reign. Witnessing prisoners Max and Horst come to grips with their humanity, their identities and their destinies, is both heroic and profoundly moving.

The Sound of Music - Simon Shepherd withdraws from Production

[06 November] Following the first two previews of The Sound of Music at the London Palladium on Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th November, Simon Shepherd, director Jeremy Sams and producers Andrew Lloyd Webber and David Ian agreed that his performance as ‘Captain Von Trapp’ was not working within the production and therefore he has withdrawn from the show.
The producers are delighted to have secured the services of Alexander Hanson who will take over the role and will start performances as ‘Captain Von Trapp’ as soon as possible later this week. 
Alexander Hanson played the lead in this year’s Chichester Festival Theatre’s production of “Tonight at 8.30” and his other recent productions include the Royal National Theatre’s “The Villain’s Opera”, “Troilus and Cressida”, “Candide” and “The Merchant of Venice”.  His West End musicals include starring roles in “Sunset Boulevard”, “Aspects of Love” and “We Will Rock You”. His television includes playing the regular character ‘Marshall’ in “The Fugitives” and playing ‘Tarquin’ in two series of “Auf Weidersehn Pet”.
Until he starts performances, ‘Captain Von Trapp’ will be played by understudy Christopher Dickins.

Donkeys Years Announces closing date of London run

[02 November] It has today been confirmed that Donkeys Years will now end its London run on Saturday 16th December 2006.
Whilst their lives may have had varying degrees of success, all are connected by a common past. Once locked in college for the night, the graduates begin to relive their youth, and old friendships, feuds - and the much-desired but absurdly proper Master's wife - come tumbling back into the present....
Michael Frayn's recent and acclaimed West End productions include Noises Off, Democracy and Copenhagen. Donkeys' Years was a comedy triumph when it first opened in the West End. Thirty years on, this new production of Frayn's brilliant farce should not be missed by anyone who has ever revisited - or avoided old friendships.

Daddy Cool - Cancels 1st and 2nd November 2006 performances

[01 November] The Producers of Daddy Cool have announced that this evening's performance and both matinee and evening performances on Thursday 2nd November 2006 have had to be cancelled.
This is due to a building fault which required immediate attention.
Daddy Cool is scheduled to resume from Friday 3rd November 2006 onwards.
