DENISE WELCH, GARY WILMOT, SIMON LIPKIN AND CRAIG MATHER JOIN THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS (27 MARCH 2017)

It's been announced that Denise Welch, Gary Wilmot, Craig Mather and Simon Lipkin will join Rufus Hound and Neil McDermott in the major new musical The Wind In The Willows, which will open at the world-famous London Palladium. Previews will also begin ahead of schedule on Friday 16th June.

As previously confirmed actor, comedian and presenter Rufus Hound will reprise his Manchester Theatre Award-winning performance as the amazing Mr Toad. He will be joined by West End stars Simon Lipkin as Rat and Craig Mather as Mole, EastEnders actor Neil McDermott as Chief Weasel, with Coronation Street and Boy Meets Girl star Denise Welch as Mrs Otter and West End legend Gary Wilmot as Badger.

The confirmed company also includes: Chris Aukett, Joel Baylis, Jenna Boyd, Abigail Brodie, Abigail Climer, Jorell Coiffic-Kamall, Nicole Deon, Emilie du Leslay, Joshua Gannon, James Gant, Evan James, Michael Larcombe, Bethany Linsdell, Ryan Pidgen, Adam Vaughan, Georgie Westall and Natalie Woods.

Based on Kenneth Grahame's treasured novel which has captivated generations of readers for over a century, The Wind In The Willows has been adapted for the stage with a book by Academy Award-winning screenwriter and Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes and Olivier Award-winning composer and lyricist duo George Stiles and Anthony Drewe. The riotous comedy follows the impulsive Mr Toad whose insatiable need for speed lands him in serious trouble. With his beloved home under threat from the notorious Chief Weasel and his gang of sinister Wild Wooders, Toad must attempt a daring escape leading to a series of misadventures and a heroic battle to recapture Toad Hall. Featuring eye-poppingly beautiful design, exuberant choreography and a gloriously British score, the musical will bring an explosion of anarchy, humour and heart to the London Palladium.



FURTHER CAST ANNOUNCED FOR THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS (29 JANUARY 2017)

Following a highly-acclaimed pre-West End engagement, the major new musical The Wind In The Willows will open in the West End at the world-famous London Palladium. Previewing from 17 June, the production will open on 29 June 2017.

Leading actor, comedian and presenter Rufus Hound stars as the amazing Mr Toad with EastEnders and Shrek star Neil McDermott as Chief Weasel. The confirmed company will also include Jenna Boyd, Abigail Brodie, Jorell Coiffic-Kamall, Nicole Deon, James Gant, Evan James, Michael Larcombe, Bethany Linsdell, Ryan Pidgen, Adam Vaughan and Georgie Westall, with further casting to be announced shortly.

Last week, Jamie Hendry and Julian Fellowes introduced members of the cast and creative team at an exclusive launch event held on stage at the London Palladium where Rufus Hound and the company performed a selection of songs from the musical. Rufus Hound was most recently seen on stage in Don Quixote (Royal Shakespeare Company), The Wars of the Roses (Rose Theatre) and as Freddy in the original West End production of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (Savoy Theatre). His other theatre credits include Neville's Island (Chichester Festival Theatre) and One Man Two Guv'nors (Theatre Royal Haymarket). Television credits include Doctor Who (BBC), Cucumber (Channel 4), Drunk History (Comedy Central), A Touch of Cloth (SKY) and Hounded (BBC). He is also a regular guest on comedy panel shows such as Never Mind the Buzzcocks (BBC), Would I Lie To You? (BBC), and 8 Out Of 10 Cats (Channel 4).

RUFUS HOUND TO LEAD WIND IN THE WILLOWS (9 NOVEMBER 2016)

Following a highly-acclaimed pre-West End engagement, producer Jamie Hendry has announced that the major new musical The Wind In The Willows will open in the West End at the London Palladium, previewing from 17 June 2017. The production is currently playing in Southampton, following its premiere in Plymouth.

Leading comedian, actor and presenter Rufus Hound stars as the amazing Mr Toad in the musical based on Kenneth Grahame's much-loved classic which reunites Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes and Olivier Award-winning composer and lyricist George Stiles and Anthony Drewe. Full casting will be announced shortly.

Jamie Hendry (producer) said: "Following wonderful receptions in Plymouth and Manchester where The Wind In The Willows has delighted adults and children alike, I'm thrilled that a wider audience will be able to share in the joy of this glorious new musical at the London Palladium." Hendry also confirmed that he would be continuing his pledge to provide readers of all ages the opportunity to enjoy The Wind in the Willows by sending free copies of Kenneth Grahame's novel to every school and library in London. He added "I am a firm believer that our most classic novels should be freely available for everyone to enjoy. I hope that readers will fall in love with Grahame's story as much as I did, which ultimately led to the commissioning of this musical."
